"I met Dale on an earlier visit to the shop and really liked him. I made a reservation to fly fish and Dave White was available. What a great guy. Went way out of his way to make it a most enjoyable experience."

Fly Fishing Merit Badge Program

Fly Fishing Ohiopyle PA

Join us in Ohiopyle, where we are surrounded by the Laurel Highland's fly-fishing Shangri-la. A short cast out the back door will land in the Youghiogheny River, and a long cast out the front door will land in Meadow Run. Within the boundaries of Ohiopyle State Park, you can choose from more than 25 miles of fishable water. Rainbow, Brown and Brook Trout or Small Mouth Bass, you decide what fish you are chasing for the day.

Location: Youghiogheny River, Meadow Run Ohiopyle, PA

DATES:
May 15 & 16 or August 12 & 13
or call if you have a group of 6 and schedule your own dates.

Day 1 Have no fear, we will start at the very beginning! After a brief “classroom” introduction to terminology and bug life, we will head out for some casting practice. A little more time learning the basic knots and attaching flies. Next it is time to get the feet wet. Off to the banks of the Youghiogheny River, to see what fish we can find. Throughout the afternoon you will work on understanding currents and where fish feed.

Day 2 Mornings are for bugs, we will search around and discover what bugs are hatching and the Trout are feeding on. This leads us straight to fishing strategy and fish behavior, then time to break out the rods again. Improving the accuracy of casts, more difficult knots, and fly selection are on the agenda today.
